Celebrate spring and new beginnings at our annual Nowruz Celebration in Frederick, honoring the Persian New Year and a 3,000-year-old tradition celebrated across Central Asia, the Middle East, and surrounding regions. Nowruz, meaning “New Day,” symbolizes renewal, hope, and community connection.
This family-friendly event will feature a vibrant traditional bazaar, cultural performances, enriching educational dialogue, hands-on arts and crafts activities, a symbolic Haft-Seen table, and authentic traditional foods. Guests of all backgrounds are invited to experience the rich cultural heritage, seasonal traditions, and community spirit that make Nowruz a meaningful and joyful celebration.

Lunar new year

The Lunar New Year is a holiday that marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar, which is the calendar traditionally used in many east Asian countries including China, Vietnam, Singapore and South Korea. For many cultures it is one of the most important holidays of the year!

Every February, to celebrate this holiday, the Asian American Center of Frederick organizes a free event with cultural performances, displays of artwork, ethnic cuisine, and family friendly activities.

Asia on the Creek

Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage (AANHPI) Month is observed in the United States during the month of May to recognize the contributions and influence of Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

Every year, in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, AACF organizes “Asia on the Creek”, a free event, by partnering with the Downtown Frederick Partnership.

This event promotes Asian heritage and culture through display of traditional art, dance, music, ethnic cuisine, and conversation about Asian way of life.
