Every year we take a day to serve our community by providing medical services, health screenings, educational materials, and fun at our Community Health Fair.  This is a tremendous undertaking that would not be possible without our many volunteers.  We thank you for your past service and are pleased that you have decided to volunteer once again this year.

We have the following volunteer opportunities:

Registrant – If you like to work with people, this assignment may be for you.  The assignment requires review and collection of registration forms.  It is a sitting assignment.   Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus!  Please note the languages you speak on the form.  We will also need a few people to register and check in volunteers in various buildings.

Data recorder – We need people who are experienced with recording data into Excel spreadsheets.  Must be able to type rapidly and accurately.  This is a sitting assignment.  Forms will be in English and Spanish, so people with the ability to understand both languages will be helpful.

Registration aides – This assignment involves interacting with attendees, helping them with registration forms, and reviewing forms prior to registration.  This involves a lot of standing.  We are especially looking for people who are fluent in multiple languages.  Please note any languages that you speak on the form.

Aides - If you enjoy interacting with people and can stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, this assignment could be for you.  We need people to greet attendees, help them with questions, and direct them to the services they need.  We will need a substantial number of multilingual aides, so please note the languages you speak on the form.

Medical aides – If you are familiar with medical terms and like working with people, this assignment might be for you.  We especially need multilingual medical aides to assist doctors and nurses with medical questions, so please note the languages you speak on the form.

Survey taker – We have two types of surveys, an exit survey with general questions and a survey for people to request follow-up help with specific health issues.  With this assignment you would be interacting with attendees, asking specific questions, and recording their responses.  An outgoing personality and good handwriting are a plus!

Volunteer assistants – If you are active and enjoy helping people, this assignment might be for you.  Volunteer assistants may be called on to do a variety of things, such as ferry messages between building during the Fair, helping to coordinate volunteers and their assignments, and aiding the volunteer coordinator.

Set-up – We are interested in recruiting several muscular, mechanically inclined people to help set up tables and chairs in various Fair buildings and to construct several “cubbies” for doctor-patient interactions.  The set-up is from 12:00 PM until approximately 4:00 on Friday, 27 October (the day before the Health Fair).

Clean-up – We need people willing to help break down the tables, chairs, and cubbies following the Fair.  This assignment would be from approximately 2:00 PM until 4:00 or 5:00 PM on the day of the Fair (28 October).  You may volunteer for this assignment in conjunction with other afternoon assignments.
